Acrylic Pens

TOF’s acrylic pens section covers a broad spectrum of various resins used to cast attractive patterns and colors into molds.  Typically, multiple colors and transparencies of resins are cast into rectangular molds.  These castings are then cut into smaller blanks and turned on our lathe by hand. Our acrylic pen blanks are then sanded and polished to a high gloss finish.  Let us help you find one that fits your personality!

Natural Pens

Pen-135Here at TOF we try to repurpose and recycle materials when practical.  We selected the name Natural Pens to signify that the bodies of these pens are created from materials found in nature.

The majority of our woods come from downed trees and trimmings.  When viewing this section, you may notice that some pens have distinctive black veining throughout the body.  This is call spalting.    Spalting is caused by nature when minerals interact with the wood during the beginning of the decaying process.  We select the wood before the integrity is jeopardized and present these unique pieces to you.

The colors you see are the natural colors of our wood unless specifically noted in the description.

Olivewood Pens

Pen-130You can thank the big guy for this one!

The olive tree is native to the Holy Land where it has been cultivated since ancient times. According to historians, the first olive groves took root in the Holy Land and along the coast of the eastern Mediterranean around 4,000 B.C.  More than any other plant, the olive tree symbolizes the Holy Land and has been called: “The Sacred Tree”, “The Peace Tree”, “The Tree of Light”, and “The Tree of Legends”. The olive tree represents the Holy Land in all religions.

All the olivewood arts that we produce are created from the trimmings (pruning) of the olive trees, which is an essential process for a healthier growth for the trees and to generate environmental stability.  No tree is damaged or destroyed in the process. After the olive tree is trimmed, its branches are kept inside for a long period in dark places.  This is the ideal climate to dry the olive wood without splitting or cracking.

TOF patiently hand turns each olivewood cutting then sands it to a fine finish.  The colors you see are the natural color of the wood.  We use only clear finishes.

We import all the olivewood used in our creations from the Holy Land.  So, if you want something in remembrance or would like to bestow a special gift to someone, this is it!  Peace.
